In honor of Arbor Day, the ReLeaf Team planted 3 serviceberry trees in the Old Fort neighborhood to replace 3 trees at the same location.

Financial Literacy and Home Ownership Training

Washington Housing Authority partnered with Koinonia Community Solutions for the launch of their Financial Literacy & Homeownership Training Series, presented in collaboration with PNC Bank. The series features 10 workshops taking place in Pitt, Beaufort, Martin, Washington, and Hyde counties. This in-person, free community training aims to equip individuals and families with practical financial tools and create clear pathways toward homeownership.

Inner Banks STEM Program

The Washington Housing Authority recently hosted the IBEX STEM Summer Camp, where participants explored the exciting world of boating safety. Campers enjoyed a special visit from the U.S. Coast Guard, who shared valuable safety tips and hands-on learning. Attendees also used craft supplies to design and build their own miniature boats.

BCCC’s Best Award Winner: Betty Gattlin

Washington Housing Authority recognizes Betty Gatlin for receiving Beaufort County Community College’s ‘BCCC’s Best Award’ for this semester’s theme: commitment. She was nominated by her professor who recognized her commitment to her education, keeping her goals to the forefront despite challenges she has faced. Betty has been an active member of the Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency Program and is on track to graduate May 2025!

Congratulations, Mrs. Gatlin!

Congratulations to ROSS participant Betty for being a member of the local chapter of the National Honors Society Gamma Beta Phi at Beaufort County Community College.ROSS participant Betty Gatlin is making moves towards her goals. Not only has she taken the initiative to move forward despite the obstacles she faces, but she has also seen the fruit of her hard labor. Mrs. Gatlin actively uses Student Support Services, a federally funded TRIO program, to assist her in reaching her academic goals. Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program that provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic College requirements, and motivates students toward successful completion of their education. All of the services are free for program participants.-BCCC website. She has also been recognized as an honor student, receiving an invitation to be inducted into the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, a nationally recognized accomplishment. Congratulations on your amazing accomplishments, Mrs. Gatlin!
