WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) - There will soon be a new homeowner in Washington, making it the third home built through the Neighborhood Revitalization Program, which could be fit for a new family.

In just three years, two houses were built and now another one is on the way. The program is through the City of Washington and the Washington Housing Authority. Bringing dirt to life, they take property lots owned by the city or housing authority.

On the same street are two other homes built through the project which are both occupied by their new owners. Franklin Scott, the CEO of the Washington Housing Authority, said it's to help low-income families get the chance to achieve the American Dream.

"These houses represent an opportunity to fulfill dreams to the families and dreams to the community," Scott said. "But it also recommends jobs and opportunities to people who serve in this community."
